Our Biggest Month Yet: Rennervation's July Recap

July was the month we have been building toward all year. Camp. Community. Council chambers. Podcasts. Booths. It was a month that asked everything of us and gave back even more. We are so proud of what this team and this community made possible in July, and we cannot wait to share it all with you.

Camp Concord: A Week That Changes Everything

July is camp month, and this year was one for the books. We welcomed 84 foster teens ages 13 to 18 to Camp Concord at South Lake Tahoe for a full week of adventure, connection, and experiences that many of them had never had before. Set against the breathtaking backdrop of the Sierra Nevada mountains, this was more than a summer camp. It was a week designed to remind every single one of our young people that they are seen, they are valued, and they deserve joy.

Our campers kayaked and canoed on the lake, hiked trails surrounded by towering pines, tried their hand at archery, gathered around campfires under a sky full of stars, and created memories with peers who truly understand their experience. There is something powerful about unplugging from the noise of everyday life and being fully present in a place that beautiful, with people who feel like family.

F1 Las Vegas Grand Prix: Back to School Event

We headed to Las Vegas to attend the F1 Las Vegas Grand Prix Back to School event, a community initiative from one of the most exciting organizations in our region. The Formula 1 Las Vegas Grand Prix has made a genuine commitment to the families and youth of Southern Nevada, and this event was a wonderful reflection of that mission in action.

We were grateful to be in the room and to witness the kind of community investment that happens when major organizations choose to show up for the people around them. Thank you to the F1 Las Vegas Grand Prix for including us and for the incredible work you are doing for the community beyond the racetrack.

PBS Be My Neighbor Day

We set up a booth at PBS Be My Neighbor Day and loved every second of it. Events like this one, rooted in the spirit of neighborliness and community, are exactly the kind of spaces Rennervation belongs in. We had the chance to create real awareness for our foundation, connect with families, and simply show up for the community the way Mister Rogers always encouraged us to.

There is something so warm about an event built entirely around the idea of being a good neighbor, and we are grateful to PBS for creating that space and for welcoming us into it. We will always say yes to events that celebrate community this way.

Montreaux: Nonprofits in the Room

We attended the Montreaux event, a great opportunity to connect with fellow nonprofit leaders and community members in an intimate setting. Gatherings like this are so valuable for building the kind of relationships that move missions forward, and we always leave these evenings with new energy and renewed perspective. Grateful for the invitation and for the wonderful people we got to be in community with.

Reno City Council Meeting: A Moment We Will Not Forget

We had the honor of being heard at a Reno City Council Meeting, where we had the opportunity to thank Council Members for their vote to approve discretionary funds for our organization. The response from the Council was incredibly encouraging. They were genuinely moved by hearing from us, and the warmth in that room was something we will carry with us for a long time.

We were especially touched when Council Member Naomi, who shared that she did not have remaining discretionary funds, expressed her enthusiasm by saying she would love to attend our October 17th event. That kind of support and genuine interest from our local leaders means the world to us.

In total, this effort raised approximately $11,000 for Rennervation. We are so deeply grateful to the City of Reno and every Council Member who chose to invest in our youth and our mission. This community continues to show up for us in the most generous ways.

What Drives Reno Podcast at the National Automobile Museum

We had such a fun and meaningful experience joining the What Drives Reno podcast, hosted by Phil MacDougall at the National Automobile Museum here in Reno. The episode featured our foundation and our upcoming event, giving us a wonderful platform to share our story and build awareness around our mission and our incredible community partnership with the museum.

Beyond the conversation itself, this visit opened up even more doors. Phil generously came through with some fantastic silent auction items for our upcoming event, and we also had the exciting opportunity to film promotional content right on the museum floor. If you have not visited the National Automobile Museum, it is truly one of Reno's gems, and we are so proud to be connected with them. We cannot wait for you to see the content we created together.

Looking Ahead

July reminded us of exactly why we do this work. Eighty-four teens at a lake in the Sierra Nevada. Eleven thousand dollars raised in a council chamber. A podcast recorded among beautiful cars. Community booths and back-to-school celebrations. Every single moment added up to something bigger than any one of us could do alone.

We are heading into the second half of the year with so much gratitude and so much momentum. Thank you for being part of this story. 💙
