Moving with Purpose: Rennervation's May Recap
May 2026 | Rennervation Foundation
May was a month of momentum. From a finish line lit up with community spirit, to a movie premiere supporting a student with a big heart, to smoothie runs that gave back, this month had something for everyone and reminded us that generosity really does show up in all shapes and sizes. Here is everything we got to be part of in May.
Junior League of Reno Annual Dinner
We were proud to be represented at the Junior League of Reno's Annual Dinner, a beautiful evening with over 120 people gathered to celebrate the incredible work this organization does. With a league of more than 300 dedicated women across Reno, being in that room is always an honor and a reminder of how much collective power this group holds.
Our relationship with JLR continues to be one we genuinely treasure, and we are grateful for every opportunity to stand alongside them. Thank you for including us in such a meaningful evening.
DCFS 5K: Community Runs Together
This was a big one. Our DCFS 5K brought out 283 participants this year, both in person and through an exciting virtual component that expanded our reach beyond the finish line. Together, this incredible community helped raise an outstanding $15,362 for the foundation. We are still smiling about it.
The energy at this event was everything. Families, community members, and supporters all came out and showed up in the most generous way. Our raffle, while a bit of a sprint to pull off, ended up sparking real curiosity and enthusiasm around Rennervation, bringing in $862 through raffle and merch sales and, perhaps more valuably, opening up so many great conversations about who we are and what we do.
Events like this are a true team effort, and we are so deeply grateful to every single person who laced up their shoes, donated, volunteered, or cheered from the sidelines. You made this year one to remember.
AFP Training: The Science of Giving
We attended a training session with the Association of Fundraising Professionals, joining over 100 attendees for a day of learning and connection. It was genuinely wonderful to be in the room with colleagues from organizations like SNJ, Boosted Diplomas, Pioneer Center, and the Community Foundation. The nonprofit community in our region is full of talented, passionate people, and we never take those connections for granted.
The training itself dove into the fascinating world of neurophilanthropy, exploring the science behind why people give and how that shapes the way we approach donor relationships and fundraising. Investing in our own learning makes us better at everything we do, and we are grateful for every opportunity to grow alongside our peers.
A15 Premiere: Supporting a Student with a Big Vision
One of our favorite things is showing up for people who are doing something meaningful, and attending the A15 premiere was exactly that kind of moment. UNR student Waylon Parr created this film and chose to donate half of the ticket sale proceeds to Rennervation, with the other half going to the Holland Project. With 150 people in attendance, it was a wonderful evening full of creativity, community, and generosity.
The fact that a student chose to use their art as a vehicle for giving back is the kind of thing that restores your faith in the next generation. Waylon, thank you for sharing your work with us and for your incredible generosity. We are so glad we got to be part of your premiere night, and we cannot wait to see what you create next.
Keva Juice Give Back Day
We set up a tabling presence at Keva Juice for their Give Back Day, where 25% of all drink sales went directly back to the foundation. It was a fun, lighthearted way to meet people where they already are and spark conversations about our mission over a smoothie.
Give Back Days like this are such a wonderful way to engage the community and remind people that supporting a cause does not always have to be complicated. Sometimes it is as simple as stopping for your favorite drink and knowing a little bit of that goes to something good. Thank you to Keva Juice for partnering with us and making it easy for the community to give back.
Looking Ahead
May was a month that reminded us community generosity really does show up everywhere, from finish lines to film premieres to juice bars. We are heading into summer camp season with full hearts, a fired-up team, and so much gratitude for the people and partners who make this mission possible every single day.
More good things are coming. Thank you for being part of it all. 💙
