A Beautiful Start: Rennervation’s January Recap

January 2026  |  Rennervation Foundation

January has a way of feeling like a fresh page, full of possibility and quiet excitement. For Rennervation, this month was a beautiful reminder of why we do what we do. From cozy cafes filled with purring cats to grand ballrooms honoring our heroes, January was packed with moments that filled our hearts and moved our mission forward. Here's a look at everything that made this month so special.

Kitty Kisses Café — Teen Club Outing

What happens when you mix curious teenagers, snuggly rescue cats, warm beverages, and a cozy café? Pure magic, that's what. Our PYW teens headed to the Kitty Kisses Rescue Café in Reno for a Teen Club experience that none of them will forget anytime soon.

Nine participants came through the doors and what unfolded was nothing short of heartwarming. Some of our youth were reunited with former foster siblings and friends, turning a fun outing into something truly meaningful. The cats, the laughter, the reconnections, it was one of those events that reminds us how powerful the right environment can be for healing and belonging.

The verdict from the kids? Absolutely loved it. Animals have a special way of creating safety and joy, and this experience was no different. We're already fans of any event that involves our youth and furry friends!

Foster Fashion Giveaway — Spreading Abundance in the Community

Giving is always better together, and our Foster Fashion Giveaway was proof of that. In partnership with the incredible Katie Grace Foundation, we distributed Foster Fashion items directly into the Reno community, reaching 50 participants in the process.

We are so grateful for the opportunity to work alongside Katie Grace, whose Wednesday distribution events bring together over 200 nonprofits to share resources and goods with those who need them most. Being part of that network and being able to show up for our community in such a tangible way is something we don't take for granted. Thank you, Katie Grace Foundation, for making space for us at the table.

Rotary Club Presentation at the Atlantis

Our Executive Director, Val Koss, took the stage at the Atlantis in Reno to present to members of the Reno Rotary Club, the largest and oldest Rotary chapter in the region. With around 50 attendees, this was a powerful opportunity to share our mission with community leaders who are already deeply invested in making Northern Nevada a better place.

The connection didn't stop at the presentation. We're thrilled and so grateful to share that this engagement led to two generous in-kind donations from Digiprint and the Reno Reading Trail. That's the beauty of showing up and sharing your story: you never know who in the room is ready to say yes. Thank you to both organizations for your generosity and belief in our work.

Southwest Leadership Summit — Las Vegas

Leadership grows when it's invested in, and we were proud to have our Vice President, Shana Rogers, represent Rennervation at the Southwest Leadership Summit in Las Vegas. Conferences like this are so valuable they create space for connection, learning, and the kind of inspiration that you carry back into your work long after the event ends.

We're grateful for every opportunity to be in rooms with other mission-driven leaders, and we know the insight and energy Shana brought back will continue to shape how we grow and serve our community in the months ahead.

Heroes Gala — Honoring Those Who Serve

We were honored to be invited by the Reno Tahoe Convention Center to attend the Heroes Gala, an inspiring evening dedicated to celebrating and supporting our veterans. The event brought together incredible community members, and we were grateful to be part of it.

Being in a room full of people committed to honoring those who have sacrificed so much is a humbling experience. We had a wonderful time connecting with others in our community, and events like this remind us that showing up, even when we're not the host, is always worth it. Thank you to the Reno Tahoe Convention Center for extending the invitation and for putting on such a meaningful event.

Welcome, Edgewood Tahoe — Our First 21in5 Society Member!

We saved the biggest announcement for last. We are absolutely thrilled to officially welcome Edgewood Tahoe as the very first member of our 21in5 Society!

This milestone is more than just an announcement, it's a testament to the power of shared vision. Edgewood Tahoe's commitment to our mission means the world to us, and we are deeply grateful for their belief in what Rennervation stands for and where we're headed. This partnership marks an exciting new chapter, and we couldn't be more honored to have them with us as we grow.

Stay tuned, this is just the beginning of something truly special.

Looking Ahead

January set the tone in the best possible way. Between the joy of our youth finding connection and community, the generosity of our partners, the spaces we were welcomed into, and the milestones we're celebrating, we are stepping into the rest of 2026 with full hearts and a lot of momentum.

We are grateful for every person, organization, and community member who made this month what it was. Here's to all that's coming next. 💙
